Governor’s Exec. Order Closes Pools at least through May 15

Texas Governor’s Ex Order GA-18 dtd 27 April opened much of Texas but closed access to public swimming pools. On 28 April, the Port A Mayor provided his 8th Declaration which implemented the Governor’s orders.

Late this morning, the city got clarification on the pool closures. At issue was the Governor’s extension of pool closings which had not been previously addressed. Public Pools will be closed through 15 May (unless extended).

We confirmed that HOA pools are considered “public” pools through the state DSHS who provide the definitive statue and definition of public and private pools. All pools, other than residential pools (private) are considered public. Residential pools are either single family dwellings or duplex. Association pools are Class C pools under that definition and subject to public pool restrictions.

The Board will reconvene a week prior to anticipated authority to open the BW II pool to address requirements and responsibilities. New target date for potential opening is 16 May
