Members of Beachwalk II,
We are beginning the major repair/resurface of the community roadway as planned, programmed, budgeted and approved for this year. The work will begin the week of 9 May (10 or 11 May is anticipated start) and be completed in a week to 10 days (weather and new surface supply availability are factors). The planned order and scope of the work is included on the attached chart. Please access your HOA website Beachwalk II HOA – Beachwalk II HOA (beachwalk2hoa.org) for official notification of daily road closures and construction activities. Updates will also be posted to Nextdoor.
GENERAL: Once the new road surface has been applied and rolled, light traffic may soon be allowed on the new surface. Heavy traffic (e.g. trash trucks, etc.) may be held until the following day before accessing the new road surface.
TRAFFIC PATTERN: During the approximately 7 to 10 days of construction NO STREET PARKING ALLOWED (This means no parking on the concrete edges). The concrete will be used to support necessary traffic movement. There may be times when gate access will be limited to one lane. One gate will be blocked and the other set open. If your street is not noted in the website updates for activity on a given date, you may still need to know where you can drive to get in and out of the neighborhood. Roadway crossovers will be marked to allow safe movement across areas of construction.
Special Note: Do not attempt to drive on a soil road base if it has had the black tack coat applied. A tack coat is a lite oil and tar mixture that your tires will pick up…a terrible mess. Can be cleaned – not easily. A safe bet will be to drive on the concrete edges as they will not be significantly impacted by the construction.
SERVICES AND DELIVERIES:
•Mail Service: There should be no impact to mail delivery at postal box. Work with Postmaster for any oversized package deliveries.
•City services such as trash & palm pickup will be notified of the roadwork planned. We will work with them to continue service throughout the project to the extent possible.
Monday, 9 May… trash and palm pickup as scheduled.
Thursday, 12 May… mill work on roads on Sanibel and Captiva may be ongoing. Other areas may be accessible. Cul-de-sac bins may need to be placed at the entry to the turnout roadway.
Monday, 16 May…roadwork near the front gate or along Keewaydin may limit Republic’s access or require members to place bins on the opposite side of the road.
It is anticipated that the May 18 Recycle Pickup may be able to be executed as scheduled. If there are construction delays, be prepared to modify that recycle pickup as necessary.
•Please limit UPS, FEDEX, Amazon or heavy truck deliveries consistent with the resurface schedule. Consider delaying or redirecting packages to delivery access points.
•Private construction projects may be impacted by the paving project as heavy truck/trailer delivery traffic will not be allowed on freshly paved areas. Construction crew parking will be limited to driveways during the period of the community roadwork.
•Please ensure contractors and other agents working at your home on your behalf are made aware of the schedule and driving/parking limitations on the roadways. (Lawn services need to be advised of the potential impact to their access and work (especially early week May 16-18).
